thwarted by the holiday

May 26th, 2008

Well, I attempted to work out tonight, as my goal is to use the gym Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. So I threw on my workout clothes, grabbed my iPod and headed out. When I pulled up to the gym, I kind of thought it was strange to not have a lot of cars there. Then when I tried the door and it was locked, I remembered it being a holiday and that the gym closed early. Bummer!! So I headed back home and Scott and I ended up having a nice walk around the block to get some exercise. The night was beautiful and spending time with Scott was wonderful. I wouldn’t mind taking walks together on a regular basis.

Alaska sucks

May 22nd, 2008

Well, the listing of polar bears as threatened on the Endangered Species list is going to meet some opposition. Despite the fact that polar bears are very rapidly losing their habitat, Alaska is going to sue the government over the listing because that will threaten the state’s development.

I don’t even know where to begin with this. I mean, really!! You’re concerned more about your “development” than the survival of an entire species? Come on. It is inconceivable that they would eve think this is an ok thing to do. But then Scott reminded me that Alaska likes to do weird things like this and aerial gunning of wolves.

Love Bug rules

May 14th, 2008

I entered our cat, Love Bug, into an online pet contest several weeks ago now and tonight I checked and he is “best in show.” This means that as of 11pm on May 14th, he is top animal in the cutest pet contest. I am very excited about this and made Scott come and look. I think it is a very cute picture of Love Bug and if you want to vote for him, please do!

Go to Daily Paws and vote!!!

cheesecake bummer

May 14th, 2008

On Saturday I had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory with my friend Jethe and her daughter Natalee. For dessert I got a piece of Banana Cream Cheesecake. I could have ate all of it while at the restaurant but I chose to save part of for later. Well later turned into today, and it was less than appealing. The bananas were an interesting shade of brown and the whipped cream was hard. So I had to toss it and settle for Birthday Cake ice cream we bought a week or so ago from Safeway.

unfortunate turn of events

May 4th, 2008

Last night, I got together with my friend Amy. The plan was to go see the 8pm showing of The Ruins at the Arizona Mills Harkins. So I got to her place around 715 and after some visiting we headed tot h theater. We were both looking forward to the movie, me because I love to see scary movies and Amy because she also likes these types of movies AND she read the book.

But our plans were thwarted at the ticket counter when we were told that there is no 8pm showing. So we had to scramble to pick a movie to see and we chose Prom Night. This was pretty much a mistake as it turned out to be just like all the other teen scary movies, such as “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and “Scream.”

I will admit I did jump throughout the movie as I am easily spooked by things coming out of closets or around corners if I am not expecting it. But I also spet a good part of it laughng at how ridiculously predictable the movie was.

So the moral of the story is, always have a backup movie picked out to avoid last minutes, snap decisions that could turn out to be a huge mistake.

Luckily we salvaged the night by catching up on our lives, as it had been months and months since we last got a chance to hang out.

home safe and sound

May 4th, 2008

After a ridiculous delay trying to leave the Terminal 3 parking garage, we arrived home safe and sound. Scott looks tired and subdued, and is currently napping on our bed.

The parking garage snafu was, like I said, ridiculous. We were second in line behind someone who apparently lost her ticket. We sat there as the line behind us grew to hold approximately 5 more cars and watched the attendant get out of the booth to take down the license plate number of the car in front of us even though there is a camera that does that. Then we had to wait while the manager arrived. Then there appeared to be a problem with the gate opening up so all of us that had been waiting for this madness to end were directed to the east exit.

That went a hell of a lot faster.

So like I said, we’re home, Scott’s napping and I’m starving. Hopefully we’ll be eating a nice dinner soon.

welcome home, babe

May 4th, 2008

Scott has been in Durango since Wed, April 30th. He began his new job in style by having to attend a board meeting where he met the likes of Bruce Babbitt. I am extremely happy for Scott and the experiences this job will give him. While I am happy that the business trip went well, I am ecstatic to have him back home. I’m heading out to pick him up at the airport and looking forward to spending tome with him tonight.

never fear, my keys are here

May 4th, 2008

My missing keys have been found! When I got home on Thursday night, after work, I did some more searching and found my keys in a bag I had been bringing to work with my snacks in it. I can only chalk this situation up to being overtired and thus having my brain malfunction. Yeah, that’s it. I am very relieved to have found them. It wasn’t the keys I missed so much as the sunflower key chain and swiss army knife I had with my keys.

Now, the only thing I have to do is put the spare key back as if I am not putting a spare key back. When I was searching for it the other night, there were neighbors outside int heir yards. So of course, the anxiety in me is telling me that they were watching me and will know that I have a spare key on my porch. And now they’ll know where it is. Because everyone is so concerned about what I am doing at night. ;-) Anyway, I think I have figured out where I want the key to be but I’ll wait until Scott gets home to put it back.

urine cocktail

May 2nd, 2008

After spending the past three weeks wondering if the extremely yellow urine, frequent peeing, and at times slightly burning feeling after I went the bathroom was something I should be worried about, I finally went to the doctor.

I supplied them with a urine sample and waited patiently for the doctor to tell me the results.

It’s never a good sign when the doctor comes in and says “what is going on here” and then I ask “what do you mean” and she replies “your urine is full of blood and puss.” Guess I shouldn’t have waited three weeks to see the doctor.

After a lecture on needing to flush out my system by drinking lots of water daily or else the infection will just come back, she prescribed an antibiotic and sent me on my way.

missing keys

May 1st, 2008

Ok. I have absolutely no idea where my house keys are. Last night I go to get them so i can get into my house and they are not in my purse or my tote bag. I spent a half hour searching through my bags and the car and cannot find them. Luckily we have a spare hidden in our yard so I could get in.

Once inside I continued to look for my keys but still no luck. I had hoped that they accidentally fell out in my work van, as I remembered the other day that my bag had tipped over. But I just got back from checking and no such luck.

I am really hoping that 1) Scott is hiding them as punishment for not keeping track of them or 2) I am so over-tired that I just can’t see them even though they are in plain sight.

Otherwise I am an idiot who managed to lose a key chain that has several keys, a whistle and a swiss army knife on it.
