dinner anyone?
Tonight we hosted a dinner for 4 of our friends and it proved to be a delightful evening. We had a Mexican themed dinner- tacos, refried beans and Spanish rice. Scott cooked both ground turkey and soy meat, to ensure everyone would be able to enjoy the food.
The dog behaved well and we had no medical emergencies, despite the fact that I overdosed the dog on Benadryl. We are supposed to give him a children’s pill and I gave him a maximum strength pill. Oops!
He was pretty mellow through most of the night so BONUS.
After a pretty good dinner we watched a little TV before diving into Guitar Hero. There were 6 of us so we paired off and had a little competition. It was a fun way to spend the night.
I look forward to our next dinner night.

We just found out- here at work- that a former coworker of ours died unexpectedly last night from heart complications. Per his wife, Veronica, Steve had recently had a stint put in and was in need of bypass surgery. Yesterday he complained of issues such as difficulty breathing and was brought to the hospital, where he passed away.
He was a wonderful man, full of heart and would give you the shirt off his back if he had to. He trained me to do his job as in-house and always was there to answer questions. This is such a shock and hard to believe. Even when you know someone has health issues you just never expect someone you know to not be there anymore.
You will me missed Steve, by so many people. Your goodness touched so many lives and you made Terros a better place to work.

Last night, I got together with my friend Amy. The plan was to go see the 8pm showing of The Ruins at the Arizona Mills Harkins. So I got to her place around 715 and after some visiting we headed tot h theater. We were both looking forward to the movie, me because I love to see scary movies and Amy because she also likes these types of movies AND she read the book.
But our plans were thwarted at the ticket counter when we were told that there is no 8pm showing. So we had to scramble to pick a movie to see and we chose Prom Night. This was pretty much a mistake as it turned out to be just like all the other teen scary movies, such as “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and “Scream.”
I will admit I did jump throughout the movie as I am easily spooked by things coming out of closets or around corners if I am not expecting it. But I also spet a good part of it laughng at how ridiculously predictable the movie was.
So the moral of the story is, always have a backup movie picked out to avoid last minutes, snap decisions that could turn out to be a huge mistake.
Luckily we salvaged the night by catching up on our lives, as it had been months and months since we last got a chance to hang out.

Seeing as I took all of 2 pictures of the actual spring game with my camera phone, I decided this pic from the post game meet and greet opportunity on Frank Kush field made more sense.
Here you see Nigel (standing with his back to me and a black backpack over his shoulder) waiting patiently for Rudy Carpenter to stop talking to the group of people on the left so he can get an autograph.
We had tried to get one when we first got on the field but there were like 30 or so people in line so we waited until the end when there were way less people. A security guy tried to tell us that Rudy was done signing for the day but he doesn’t know who he is talking to. We just waited and succeeded.
It was a very cool way to end the Spring Game yesterday.

This picture was taken September 2007. I had a chance to visit with my friend Jen and her family while in Washington DC. Little did I know that this would be the last time I would see Jen’s mom, Jeanette. While I knew she was battling cancer, the chemo seemed to be working.
This past Monday, Jen called me to let me know that her mom had been given days to weeks to live. I was in shock. I knew that they had to try a different type of chemo as the first had stopped working but I didn’t realize how bad it had become.
I wanted to talk to Jeanette this week but didn’t know if that would be helpful ir make things worse. So I didn’t call. Today I found out Jen’s mom passed away this morning, peacefully with her family with her.
I am so thankful to have the pictures and memories of the visit I had with her in September. This means the world tome to have been able to talk with her and enjoy a celebratory birthday cupcake with her.
I will miss you so much Jeanette, my second “mom.” Your spirit lives on in all of us who knew you and loved you!

On Saturday, I spent several hours with my good friend Jethe and her 4 yea old daughter Natalee. We had lunch at Mimi’s, which is where Natalee found the orange to add some pizazz to her smile. We had a really great day. I always enjoy getting together with Jethe and her kids.

Shanna and Robert, very dear friends of ours, were caught by the Diamondbacks “Kiss Cam” at a recent Diamondbacks game. In an email Shanna sent out she states:
After being on the “Kiss Cam” at the Diamond Backs game, I have been busy telling myself that it was no big deal, no one saw.
Well, lots of people saw it as that night “Kiss Cam” was featured on Keith Oberman’s Oddball segment of Countdown. It is a brief but cute moment of fame and I am very proud to say I know those two.
Oh, and they are the couple right before the guy who kisses the goat!!!
