“man vs wild” is nothing but a joke

Well, I guess it shouldn’t come as a surprise to find out that Bear Grylls is not really what he wants us to believe. But I am shocked. Extremely. Kind of in speechless mode.

In a story that came out the end of July, it is reported that the host of the Discovery Channels “Man vs Wild” on many occasions was not “in the wild” at all but would be spending nights in hotels or getting massages, among other things. He also did not come up with survival methods on his own. At times, the article reports, experts and teams of people would construct things such as a raft then dismantle it so Grylls just had to put it back together. I could do the same thing if I had experts construct it for me initially.

Scott and I watch this show pretty regularly, and while we both thought some or most of what the host did to survive bordered on the ridiculous, I had no inkling that there was so much deceit surrounding the shows presentation. How can you bill a show as someone surviving the elements when you know that the host is really spending nights in plush hotels away from the elements? I’m pretty sure I can no longer watch this show. Which is a shame because it was something we both looked forward to watching together.

My only hope is that Survivorman does not do the same thing!

‘Daily Show’ goes real

Apparently the ‘Daily Show’ doesn’t want to be seen as completely a “fake news” program and will be broadcasting “on location” spots that are actually on location in Iraq.

Rush Hour 3

Friday night Scott and I went out to the movies to see Rush Hour 3 starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. I thought the movie was pretty good considering it is the third installment. For action lovers there was plenty of stunts. There was also a good amount of laughs. I’d recommend seeing it in the theater.

just call me Kim “226″ Parlee

Finally! Today, I bowled my first 200 game. Scott and I have been bowling for about 5 years now and, before today, I was the only I finally bowl a 2oo game! person out of the group of friends we’ve bowled with over the years to not break into the 200s. That all changed today. I started my first game with a spare. Then followed that with a five-bagger. That’s right, I said a five-bagger. For all of you non-bowlers, that means five strikes in a row. I only missed one spare in the whole game. It was amazing and fulfilling to get this score. I beat my previous high score by 30 points. Plus in this game today, I managed to beat Scott by 70 points. That never happens. I am on top of the bowling world right now!
