Brady will be ready to play
Tom Brady appears to be on course and most likely will be ready to play come fall. I am seriously crossing my fingers and toes for this to be true. He reportedly has been throwing footballs and is progressing as he should be after major surgery and then the complications. It sounds like he is pretty confident and maintaining a positive outlook, which is very helpful to a full recovery. Dr Andrews, a well known surgeon, states that Brady’s doctors acted quickly and aggressively to rid his knee of the infection. He stated because of the actions taken the graft was saved and it has allowed Brady to recover as he needs to. Based on all this information, I would have to say that Brady will be back and will be the Brady we know and love. I am so ready for football season again. And to see number 12 behind center.

Working as a crisis counselor in the mental health field, I am well aware of the rampant prescription drug abuse occurring in our communities. In particular, teenagers are buying and selling drugs such as OxyContin and Vicodin on school campuses to get high. Of course I want this trend to cease. But I am not sure I like the way Arizona is going about it. If you have a script for meds such as OxyContin, Amben or Vicodin, then once you fill it your name and other info is put into a tracking system. Then a doctor or pharmacist can look up patients to see when they last had a scripts filled for prescription meds such as Ambien and Vicodin to see if the patient is “doctor shopping.” I think this is a privacy issue and makes me very uncomfortable.

Scott sent me the link to this interview with Barack Obama and I must say it is worth reading. It is not the typical interview. Instead of asking about the economic crisis, war in Iraq or health care, this interview focuses on pop culture. In particular its goal is to find out about Barack the man- who watches TV and listens to music just like we all do.

3. Gun falls out of said pocket.

The State of Arizona wants to close 8 of our state parks because of budget issues. And the Director gets an 11% salary increase? Wha..wha..what? Are you kidding me? Where is the logic is this? If someone can explain it to me, I’m all ears.

It is official, Matt Cassel is the franchise player for the NE Patriots 2009 season. I think I am ok with this decision. I mean he stepped up this last season and helped the Patriots go 11-5, so that is good. But he can’t take Brady’s place and I am so holding out that he will be back soon. But in the mean time, I’ll give Cassel all the support the needs, and to have both Brady and Cassel is a good thing.

A 49 year old teacher in Phoenix says she lured a 14 year old boy to a hotel room and slept with him to prevent him from sleeping with her goddaughter.
Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the ground.
Are you kidding me?
How cold we not have figured THAT one out right away? I mean isn’t that the first thought any of us would have if we thought a boy might want to sleep with a young girl?
I can’t even fathom this thought process. Hmm… I think I may ave gone to the girls parents and said something. Just an idea.
Welcome to the world of a sex offender lady!

I just finished watching Grapes of Wrath on my MacBook Pro. We got the movie through Netflix several weeks ago and Scott finished watching it on his way back from DC a week ago. So while laying on the couch tonight, I plugged in my earphones and watched it on my laptop. It worked out great as Scott was in the room playing his XBOX 360 and I didn’t have to worry about interrupting him.
Very cool. I am excited to be doing more of this when I have down time at work and on plane rides when I do travel.

This video was done my a 20 something and is powerful in it’s simplicity and straightforwardness. Maybe, if we all watch it and learn from its message we can turn it around.
