says it all
Well, this card really does summarize today. It was shitty and it did qualify me for some extra love and support. I am so thankful to have Scott in my life as he is always there for me to make me smile when I don’t feel like it and to brighten an aptly labeled “shitty” day. Thanks babe!

I had a really crappy day today at work. Early in the day we found out a former coworker died unexpectedly yesterday. We are all in shock over this unbelievable news. So we did our best to make our way through the day dealing with this tragic news. Then I had to go and hit my friend and coworker Molly’s car when I was trying to park our work van for the night. All I can say in my defense is we have new van that are bigger than our old mini vans and I misjudged the turning capability. So now both her vehicle and the Terros van have to be fixed. What a fabulous way to end an already shitty day.

Even though I haven’t lived in Massachusetts for many years now, this news makes me sad. After providing a place for regulars to congregate and serving good food for many, many years, Skips is closing to provide the way for newer development. Skips is a staple of the area where I grew up. I can still picture the counter when you first walk in. The memory is a little faded but still there. And it saddens me to hear that places I wen to and my parents went to will no longer be there. I worry that this is the fate of all my childhood memories. Will Kimball Farm be next? And what about my favorite ice cream stand, Sully’s? Makes me want to get to Mass quick so I can get memorial pictures before everything is gone.

We just found out- here at work- that a former coworker of ours died unexpectedly last night from heart complications. Per his wife, Veronica, Steve had recently had a stint put in and was in need of bypass surgery. Yesterday he complained of issues such as difficulty breathing and was brought to the hospital, where he passed away.
He was a wonderful man, full of heart and would give you the shirt off his back if he had to. He trained me to do his job as in-house and always was there to answer questions. This is such a shock and hard to believe. Even when you know someone has health issues you just never expect someone you know to not be there anymore.
You will me missed Steve, by so many people. Your goodness touched so many lives and you made Terros a better place to work.

Well, I attempted to work out tonight, as my goal is to use the gym Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. So I threw on my workout clothes, grabbed my iPod and headed out. When I pulled up to the gym, I kind of thought it was strange to not have a lot of cars there. Then when I tried the door and it was locked, I remembered it being a holiday and that the gym closed early. Bummer!! So I headed back home and Scott and I ended up having a nice walk around the block to get some exercise. The night was beautiful and spending time with Scott was wonderful. I wouldn’t mind taking walks together on a regular basis.

Well, the listing of polar bears as threatened on the Endangered Species list is going to meet some opposition. Despite the fact that polar bears are very rapidly losing their habitat, Alaska is going to sue the government over the listing because that will threaten the state’s development.
I don’t even know where to begin with this. I mean, really!! You’re concerned more about your “development” than the survival of an entire species? Come on. It is inconceivable that they would eve think this is an ok thing to do. But then Scott reminded me that Alaska likes to do weird things like this and aerial gunning of wolves.

I entered our cat, Love Bug, into an online pet contest several weeks ago now and tonight I checked and he is “best in show.” This means that as of 11pm on May 14th, he is top animal in the cutest pet contest. I am very excited about this and made Scott come and look. I think it is a very cute picture of Love Bug and if you want to vote for him, please do!
Go to Daily Paws and vote!!!

On Saturday I had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory with my friend Jethe and her daughter Natalee. For dessert I got a piece of Banana Cream Cheesecake. I could have ate all of it while at the restaurant but I chose to save part of for later. Well later turned into today, and it was less than appealing. The bananas were an interesting shade of brown and the whipped cream was hard. So I had to toss it and settle for Birthday Cake ice cream we bought a week or so ago from Safeway.

Last night, I got together with my friend Amy. The plan was to go see the 8pm showing of The Ruins at the Arizona Mills Harkins. So I got to her place around 715 and after some visiting we headed tot h theater. We were both looking forward to the movie, me because I love to see scary movies and Amy because she also likes these types of movies AND she read the book.
But our plans were thwarted at the ticket counter when we were told that there is no 8pm showing. So we had to scramble to pick a movie to see and we chose Prom Night. This was pretty much a mistake as it turned out to be just like all the other teen scary movies, such as “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and “Scream.”
I will admit I did jump throughout the movie as I am easily spooked by things coming out of closets or around corners if I am not expecting it. But I also spet a good part of it laughng at how ridiculously predictable the movie was.
So the moral of the story is, always have a backup movie picked out to avoid last minutes, snap decisions that could turn out to be a huge mistake.
Luckily we salvaged the night by catching up on our lives, as it had been months and months since we last got a chance to hang out.

After a ridiculous delay trying to leave the Terminal 3 parking garage, we arrived home safe and sound. Scott looks tired and subdued, and is currently napping on our bed.
The parking garage snafu was, like I said, ridiculous. We were second in line behind someone who apparently lost her ticket. We sat there as the line behind us grew to hold approximately 5 more cars and watched the attendant get out of the booth to take down the license plate number of the car in front of us even though there is a camera that does that. Then we had to wait while the manager arrived. Then there appeared to be a problem with the gate opening up so all of us that had been waiting for this madness to end were directed to the east exit.
That went a hell of a lot faster.
So like I said, we’re home, Scott’s napping and I’m starving. Hopefully we’ll be eating a nice dinner soon.
